About Us

Share the Ride NC is a statewide website that was created to help form carpools and vanpools. It is provided free of charge in support of the effort to improve air quality. Funding is secured by the NCDOT and these agencies:

  • Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS): Managed by the Public Transit Department of the City of Charlotte, CATS operates local and express buses, neighborhood shuttles, vanpools and carpools, and specialized transportation services for special needs customers. CATS also has a state-of-the-art rapid transit system which integrates bus and light rail into a comprehensive public transportation network

  • GoTriangle: A partnership of public transit agencies and organizations funded to promote commuter benefits in the Triangle. The GoTriangle Regional Call Center (919-485-RIDE) and gotriangle.org help people find more sustainable ways to get around -- transit, carpool, biking and more! Need a personal step-by-step process on how commuting in the Triangle works - Individualized Assistance.

  • Land of Sky Council of Governments (COG): Spanning North Carolina’s majestic western mountains, the Land-of-Sky Region is a dynamic center of tourism, manufacturing trade, and education. The 1,867 square mile region encompasses Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania Counties and almost 320,000 people.

  • Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART): Provides connections between major cities and 10 counties (Alamance, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin) in the Piedmont Triad region. Riders can call 336-883-7278 to learn more about express buses, shuttles, vanpools, carpools and various TDM resources.

  • Go Coast: Wilmington's regional Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. The goal of the program is to develop and promote a range of transportation choices for the Wilmington region's citizens and visitors.
